Lodge

  1. Do you have to be a hunter to stay at your lodge?
    Of course not. Our lodge is run as a bed and breakfast from January through August. Non-hunting guests are even welcome during the hunting season although it is harder to book a room during this period. Nonhunting guests are also welcome to join their hunting friends or spouses.
  2. What kind of events can you handle at your lodge?
    We can handle weddings, family reunions, anniversaries, banquets, and business gatherings. We can handle just about anything you have in mind.
  3. How many people can your lodge accommodate?
    Our lodge can easily sleep 26 people and even more depending on the situation.
  4. What kind of non-consumptive activities do you have?
    We have nature trails, sporting clays, hayrides, wildlife photography, bird watching, ATV’s, and equestrian trails.
  5. Is your lodge available for private bookings?
    Yes. Your party can book the entire lodge for your non-hunting activities from January through August. Private hunting parties are also available during the hunting season.
  6. What kind of corporate amenities do you provide?
    We have a 312 square foot private conference room. There is plenty of space elsewhere in the lodge if needed. Our conference room is completely modern with high-speed internet, phones, overhead and digital projectors, large eraser board, and conference table and chairs.
  7. What is included in your meal packages?
    Our bed and breakfast packages include dinner the evening you arrive and breakfast the next morning. Lunch can be added to your package for $20 a day for two people. Our hunting packages include three meals a day. The meals will very depending on the hunting package you have chosen. You will not go hungry when you stay with us that is our promise.

Upland Hunting

  1. How do I get my hunting or fishing licenses?
    All licenses with the exception of non-resident deer permits and federal duck stamps are available for purchase on-line at the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks web site.
  2. When and how long is your bird season?
    The season for our controlled shooting area runs from September 1st to March 31st. The regular state mandated bird season runs from the second Saturday in November to January 31st.
  3. What is Kansas law regarding Hunter Education?
    Anyone born on or after July 1st 1957 is required to have completed a certified hunter education course to hunt in Kansas. Approved courses from all other states are accepted in Kansas. Anyone 27 years or younger must carry their card on their person while they are hunting. Hunter education is not required when hunting on controlled shooting areas. At Tallgrass Lodge, we have an exceptionally high safety standard and make no exceptions when it comes to Hunter Education.

    Yes. We harvest quite a few does a year in an effort to keep our ratio in check.

    Yes. In fact they are legal for turkey too.
