Records say the first wild
turkeys were reintroduced into eastern Kansas in 1939.
It wasn’t
until the
establishment of the 1960’s turkey restoration
program that the population began to take off, and did
they
ever take off. You can’t drive through Eastern
Kansas without seeing a flock of turkeys feeding in
agricultural fields.
Our turkey packages are one on one
or two on one fully guided hunts. Our highly skilled guides will do the calling for you or you can
help with the calling the choice is yours. Our 5,000 acres are loaded with free roaming wild turkeys. We have mostly Rio Grande wild turkeys but it is not uncommon to see an Eastern or Eastern-Rio cross.
Those of you that have experience with the Rio Grande Turkey know that they are one of the easiest turkey species to call. They are very boisterous and respond very well to the call. We keep our hunting pressure low insuring an exciting encounter with these elusive big game animals. |

| We have both spring & fall turkey seasons in Kansas. During the spring season, you can harvest up to two toms. During the fall season you can harvest two birds either toms or hens. Spring turkey hunting is by far the most popular. Spring is when these birds are most vulnerable and respond best to calling. The fall hunt is more of a stalk hunt, and calling plays much less of a role. However fall hunting is very important in that it allows us to harvest hens lowering our tom to hen ratio. |
| If you have never hunted Kansas
before two words can sum up what you need to bring regarding
clothing,“come prepared”. You can hunt the
spring turkey season one day in 75 degree temperatures
and hunt the next day in snow flurries.
Most of our hunts will be setup on decoys before daylight
and then stalk hunting if we do not
harvest a bird early. The terrain will consists of flat,
to semi hilly so wear a comfortable pair of boots you may be stalking for some
distance. |
